Chairman of the WAC congratulated the people of Abkhazia on the 25th anniversary of Victory and Independence, which is celebrated in the Republic on September 30.

Mussa Ezekov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the World Abaza Congress, congratulated the people of Abkhazia on the 25th anniversary of the Victory and Independence Day of the Republic, which is celebrated on Sunday, September 30.

In his congratulatory address to the Abkhaz people, Ekzekov stressed that the end of the 1992-1993 Patriotic War is a vivid example of the national unity.

He said that the war was simultaneously a tragic and heroic page of the history of the people of Abkhazia: at the cost of the blood of their best sons and daughters, the Abkhaz managed to resist the Georgian aggression, protect their freedom and preserve their ethnicity. With the support of the voluntary movement, the people of Abkhazia have affirmed their inalienable right to national dignity and a better future for new generations, he added.

"These 25 years have shown that the Abkhaz people have chosen the right way. Today, the Republic of Abkhazia is a sovereign state, securely protected by Russia, which gives great opportunities for unification of the Abkhaz-Abaza people and has a perspective of a new history of development, which we can write with our own actions," stressed the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the WAC.

On September 30, 1993, the Abkhaz people won the Patriotic War, which began on August 14, 1992 and lasted 413 days. After the bloody battles on the Abkhazian territory, the Georgian troops finally retreated. In 2018, the Day of Victory and Independence of the Republic will be celebrated for the 25th time.
