The Operational HQ for the protection of the population from coronavirus infection reported that seven new cases of infection were detected in Abkhazia over the last day alone.

Since July 22, the number of people infected with coronavirus infection in Abkhazia has reached 17 people. This was announced by the Operational Headquarters for the Protection of the Population from COVID-19.

According to the headquarters, in the last day alone, seven cases of infection have been identified.
 Earlier on July 24, the Operatipnal HQ reported five new cases of infection, and on July 25, three.

The second wave of infection began on July 22, when two new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Abkhazia.

In total, 55 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Abkhazia. One patient died, 37 recovered, one was taken to Sochi and 16 people are under medical supervision.

Work continues on determining the circle of people in contact with the infected. The Operational Headquarters for the Protection of the Population from coronavirus infection calls on the citizens of Abkhazia to take all necessary precautions to avoid infection.

According to the Order of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya, on the basis of the decision of the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of the Population of the Republic of Abkhazia from the COVID-19 infection dated July 20, 2020, the restrictions on crossing the Abkhaz-Russian state border were extended until July 28, 2020.
