Abkhazian singer, artist and animator Astamur Kvitsinia created and presented the cartoon "Valors of Abraskil" in the Abkhazian language.

The premiere of the new Abkhazian cartoon "Valors of Abraskil" took place in Sukhum on Thursday 27 August.

The creator of the cartoon is the famous opera singer and artist Astamur Kvitsinia, the author of popular comics on Abkhazian mythology. The cartoonist took a plot from Abkhazian mythology as a basis.

The protagonist of this story, Abraskil, is an invincible and proud hero. He was born to become a defender of his people from foreigners, grew up a strong and resilient man. Having got himself a horse Arash, Abraskil began to fulfill his destiny. According to legend, over time, he began to resist not only enemies, but also the gods, for which he was punished and exhausted by them. The enemies of Abraskil took advantage of this, chaining the hero and his horse in the cave.

In Astamur Kvitsinia's interpretation, the heroes of this famous Abkhazian parable came to life in a unique children's comedy. The cartoon was voiced by actors Ruslan Shakaia, Mikhail Tskua, Kesou Khagba, Eric Mikaa and Timur Arshba. The famous Abkhazian actor Dzhambul Jordania acted as a sound engineer.

Before the start of the premiere screening, the director of the cartoon spoke to the audience. Kvitsinia said that he worked on the creation of "Valors of Abraskil" for over two years.

"I have been waiting for this day for a long time, I can’t even believe that it has come. The implementation of this project was made possible thanks to the help of many people. During all this time, not a single person told me that I was doing unnecessary business. Quite the opposite: they supported me," the author shared.

Then Dzhambul Jordania said a few words, congratulating everyone on the premiere.

"May we have the strength and ability to implement such projects, they are primarily aimed at popularizing the Abkhazian language," the actor emphasized.

After the official part, the audience was shown a small concert with the participation of the Abkhazian State Orchestra named after Otar Khuntsaria, and only then the cartoon itself.

Judging by the reaction of the audience, not only children liked it, but also the adults.

Milana Dzhindzhua brought her son to the premiere. She noted that the cartoon did not leave her indifferent either.

"It's great that modern cartoons in the Abkhazian language appear in Abkhazia, not just translated, but based on stories from our mythology. This is a great comedy that will undoubtedly please all children and their parents," the spectator believes.

The main audience - children - applauded, sparing no effort. While watching, every now and then I heard children's laughter, reactions of admiration and surprise. The children did not hide their emotions.

"I really liked the cartoon. It was very interesting with funny scenes. I am looking forward to continuation!" shares his dream seven-year-old Bogdan Bartsyts.

Another boy, Ramin Inapha, is older - he is 12 years old. By his own admission, he is "a big fan of American comics."  Ramin believes that the hero of the cartoon Abraskil is not inferior to the world famous superheroes.

"I really liked the cartoon. I already asked my dad to find comics about Abraskil," Ramin said.

Astamur Kvitsinia's first comic about Abraskil was released in 2009. Then support in its publication was provided by the Foundation for the Development of the Abkhazian language (since January 2016, it was reorganized into the State Committee for Language Policy - ed.). The comic won the attention of readers and became popular, after which Kvitsinia released the second comic, also according to the Abkhazian legend "Napkha Kiagua". Astamur Kvitsinia continues to work on the creation of new comics. Some of them are ready, but not yet released.
