The World Abaza Congress and the Public Association “Alashara” announced a contest for the best “Ethnoart: one and indivisible Abkhaz-Abaza people” picture.

The “Ethnoart: one and indivisible” contest, organized by the WAC together with the ANO “Alashara”, starts on May 15. This is a drawing contest, the best of which will be taken as a sketch for a large-scale graffiti image on one of the facade walls of a residential building in Sukhum, on Voronova Street, with an area of 270 m². The picture should be on the One and indivisible Abkhaz-Abaza people.

The curator of the project, the chairman of the regional branch of the WAC in St. Petersburg, Temur Rekvava, spoke about the main objectives of the competition: strengthening the ethnocultural unity of the Abkhaz-Abaza people and attracting the attention of talented people to solving issues of improving the face of the Abkhaz capital. Rekvava added that all contest drawings must be necessarily with elements of national culture. He also recalled some details of the contest, detailed in the Contest Regulations.

“From May 15, anyone can send works to the contest. Participants can be people of any age from around the world, accepted drawings, sketches, made in color in any technique. All drawings must be signed: last name, first name, age, telephone number and address of the participant’s residence,” said Temur Rekvava.

From 16 to 23 July, the organizing committee of the competition will select drawings-sketches that will be posted for online voting, scheduled from 10:00 am on July 27 until 10:00 am on August 5 on the website of the World Abaza Congress (www.abaza.org) .

Interim results of the voting will be displayed on the portal of the Congress in real time. The participant with the most online votes will be the winner. His name will be announced on August 8. The winner will receive a certificate and the main prize: one of the leading Russian artistic drawing and graffiti companies “Make Good” will put his sketch in the form of graffiti on the facade wall of more than 270 square meters in Sukhum.

Finished works can be transferred to the organizers by leaving them in the office of the WAC at the address: Sukhum, 109 Lakoba Street, second floor (building of the Ministry of Taxation of the Republic of Abkhazia - ed.) from 10:00 to 18:00 or sent by email to info.abk@abaza.org in high resolution. Works are accepted until 00:00 August 15, 2019 inclusive.

The organizers noted that in case of successful completion of the competition it “will definitely get a second wind,” that is, its ideas will be developed and continued.
