This year, the "Music — dialogue without distances and borders" competition-laboratory attracted over 200 applications. From October 12th to 22nd, Moscow and Sukhum hosted participants from eight countries. Following the selection process and face-to-face auditions, 143 singers performed in the final rounds.
The competition served as a kind of educational school for the musicians, featuring creative meetings and lectures. Master classes covered various topics, from the technical fundamentals of vocals to lectures on Abkhazian culture.
"This isn't just a competition, but a chance for professional growth. The geography of participating countries expands each year. The inviolable rule from the first year has been to bring together renowned representatives of culture and the world of music in my homeland, Abkhazia. This year, singers from the Republic of Nicaragua are participating for the first time. This makes me very happy. I'm confident their participation in the project will leave a positive impression," noted the project's creator, People's Artist of Abkhazia and Honored Artist of Russia Alisa Gitsba.
Following the auditions, 18 participants became winners. Moscow pianist Alexander Shirokov won the Grand Prix. First prize in the Opera Singing category was awarded to Ekaterina Mishina and Artem Popov. Second prize went to Yuri Feldsherov and Katerina Velasquez, and third prize to Anastasia Popova and Natalia Livnecheva. In the Chamber Singing category, first prize went to Yulia Gerasimova and Nadezhda Sorokina. Second prize went to Natalia Svirskaya and Svetlana Lubkova, and third prize went to Ernest Suleimanov and Polina Tikhonova. Alexander Shirokov became winner in the Art of Accompaniment category. Second prize went to Alexandra Egorova and Anna Koteneva. And third prize went to Georgy Mazurov and Emilia Mantai.
The winners of all three categories took part in the final gala concert at the Abkhazian State Philharmonic. They took the stage alongside the State Chamber Orchestra of Abkhazia, conducted by People's Artist of the Republic of Abkhazia David Terzyan, and the combined symphony orchestra from Krasnodar, conducted by Raushan Yakupov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
In addition to cash prizes, each laureate will receive further support, including individual expert advice and performances in various concert programs. Beginning in November, the tour will take place in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and other Russian cities.
Alisa Gitsba's project is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia. Financial support was provided by Mussa Ekzekov, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the WAC.
"We are very grateful to each partner for their support, particularly to Mussa Ekzekov. This is not the first year that Mussa Khabalevich has provided financial support for the competition and concert. I think this is yet another sign of his commitment to the promotion of our culture," said Alisa Gitsba.
Over the four years of its existence, the Alisa Gitsba Competition allowed many musicians to showcase and develop their skills, becoming a platform for cultural dialogue and an important tool for raising interest in academic art.
