Historical and literary evening “Abazashta - the land of my soul”, organized by the Moscow Cultural Society “Abaza”, was held at the Moscow House of Nationalities last Saturday, Muradin Urchukov, a member of the Supreme Council of the Congress, head of the Moscow Cultural Society “Abaza”, told the WAC web information portal.

He noted that in the framework of the meeting, famous Abaza writers and historians Larisa Shebzukhova, Oleg Etlukhov, Valery Dzyba and Mukhamed Oguzov presented their new books, and also read works “already beloved by readers”.

“The evening allowed the participants and guests of the event to get acquainted with the literary novelties, to talk with writers and poets, to hear works read by in the author,” said Urchukov.

A member of the Supreme Council of the WAC said that the literary evening was also visited by Honorary President of the World Abaza Congress, Doctor of Law Taras Shamba, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Adyg and Abaza-Abkhaz Diasporas in Moscow, Professor Yuri Agirbov and other representatives of the Abaza community of the city and the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora.

“This historical and literary evening is one of the largest events of this kind held by the Abaza community in Moscow over the past few years. Reviews of the event confirm that art, in particular, literature, and even more, the literature of its people, is in demand by readers. Therefore, the issue of relevance is not even raised - such meetings are necessary and should be held regularly,” said the member of the Supreme Council of the WAC.

According to Urchukov, the beginning Abkhaz poet Akhra Kharchilava read his poems at the evening, and the winner of international competitions, member of the Guild of Russian pianists-accompanists of Russia Diana Koncheva, “decorated the evening with her virtuoso playing the instrument.”

The literary meeting was held with the support of the Permanent Representative Office of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic in Moscow and the World Abaza Congress.

Historical and literary evening “Abazashta - the land of my soul” or, as the organizers themselves call it “Sabbath readings”, is an important cultural event for representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza ethnic group living in Moscow, which allows them to get to know poets and writers more personally, and share their creative accomplishments.
