National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia announced the release of memorable banknotes «Vladislav Ardzinba.»

The National Bank of Abkhazia will release memorable banknotes «Vladislav Ardzinba» with a face value of 500 apsars, the National Bank's official website reports. The banknote is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia.
The release of anniversary banknotes is scheduled for September 29, with a circulation of 10,000 pieces. Banknotes will be in circulation as a means of payment at face value, collectibles, investments and hoardings (realization of the function of money as a means of accumulation-ed.) at prices different from their nominal value.
«Issued banknotes are a means of payment at their face value, having a hard equivalent in Russian rubles: 1 apsar is equal to 10 rubles of the Russian Federation. At the same time, banknotes cannot be used as a means of payment in the retail system (jubilee banknotes with limited functionality-ed.),» the official website of the National Bank of Abkhazia says.
According to the Chairman of the National Bank Beslan Baratelia, the issuance of memorable banknotes would be impossible without the help of Gosznak.
«Despite the fact that we applied to Gosznak relatively late, we still gained support, and our order was promptly executed at the highest level. For which I would like to express my special gratitude,» Baratelia said.
The banknote will be printed on white cotton paper in brownish-green tones. Design of the bills is performed by artists Batal Dzhapua and Timur Kaitan.
The main image of the front side of the banknote is a portrait of the first president of the Republic of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba, under which is the inscription «Vladislav Ardzinba.» In the background, the soldiers of the Abkhazian armed forces raising the banner of Victory are depicted. Traditional Abkhazian ornament is put under the images.
The main image of the reverse side of the banknote is the map of the Republic of Abkhazia, as well as the silhouette of the architectural complex of Abkhazia's capital city of Sukhum on the background of the symbolic fortress tower with the state emblem of Abkhazia.
Memorable banknotes will be issued in Abkhazia for the first time. The National Bank of the Republic of Abkhazia initiated the circulation of special banknotes for the anniversary of the victory of the people of Abkhazia in the Patriotic War.
