May 21 is the day of the end of the Caucasian War. In Abkhazia and in a number of republics of the North Caucasus mourning rallies are held to commemorate the victims of war and forced resettlement.
On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning for victims of the Caucasian War, a torchlight procession and a mourning rally took place in Sukhum on May 21. The participants of the meeting paid tribute to the memory of those who had gone by a minute of silence, laid flowers at the monument to the makhadzhirs, and laid wreaths on the water.
Memorable events on this day are held in various towns of Abkhazia, in a number of the republics of the North Caucasus, as well as in the countries of the Abkhaz-Abaza and Adyghe Diaspora.
