A play was staged as part of the work of an acting group at Bzyb Secondary School No. 1. The World Abaza Congress helped to organize the event.

For three months, an acting club led by Alkhas Shamba worked at Bzyb Secondary School No. 1 named after G. Alshundba. Organizing a circle at school was a long-time dream of one of the teachers, Inga Bartsyts-Gitsba. According to the teacher, she has been searching for funding for the club for a very long time, but still has not given up.

“This is a good opportunity to develop in children a love for culture and art in their native language,” said Abkhaz language teacher Inga Bartsyts-Gitsba, opening the event.

However, organizing a circle and finding an interested artist who will share their knowledge is impossible without financial support.

“I learned about the activities of the Congress through the social networks of its employee Izolda Khagba. It seemed to me that these were exactly the people whom we could address and not be refused. It all came out like this. On behalf of the entire team, parents and students, I would like to express my huge gratitude for the support provided. This is important for us and for our children. I would like the work of theater clubs to become mandatory in all schools,” added Bartsyts-Gitsba.

The head of the club was the actor of the Abkhazian Drama Theater named after Samson Chanba - Alkhas Shamba. For three months, he conducted theater workshops for schoolchildren. The creative process and all productions took place in the Abkhaz language. Thus, not only the cultural, but also the educational part of the project is celebrated, creativity in the native language is promoted. The final demonstration performance of the theater group participants was timed to the 80th anniversary of Taif Adzhba.

In the first part of the speech, schoolchildren read excerpts from the poet’s diary, talked about the poet’s life and the tragic circumstances that happened to him during the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia in 1992-1993. Then the students showed a performance based on Taif Adzhba’s story, about a mythical horse named Bzou.

According to the head of the WAC department for education, social activity and health, Izolda Khagba, the Congress always pays special attention to the cultural development of children and considers this an important element of education.

“We considered it necessary to support the initiative of Bzyb School teacher Inga Bartsyts-Gitsba to conduct trial acting courses at the school, as we saw how deeply she understands the value of developing precisely such skills in children and how much she wants to give her students the chance to touch the world of art. Three months is a short period, but even during this time you can find out which children have potential. During this time, it is possible to awaken in students an interest in the profession of an actor, in creativity, in self-expression. According to the results it was a success. I thank the initiator Inga Bartsyts-Gitsba, the actor Alkhas Shamba, the head of the school Rimma Agrba and the entire teaching staff of the school for the work invested in this project,” Khagba said.

One of the project participants, school student Anastasia Tkhagusheva, expressed gratitude for letting her try herself in this field.

“I am glad that I took part in this project. This was new to me and my friends. We stayed after school, rehearsed, tried to communicate and stage plays in the Abkhaz language. I would like to continue to study in the group,” said Anastasia Tkhagusheva.

The staff of the Bzyb school is not going to rest on laurels. The plan is to come up with new creative projects for schoolchildren.
