More than 25 schoolchildren and teachers from the village of Arasadzykh took part in an educational tour to the sights of the capital.

The Department of the World Abaza Congress for work with local branches has resumed trips around Abkhazia within the framework of the “Aimadara” project. Abkhazian State Museum, Dmitry Gulia House-Museum, Sukhum Monkey Nursery, Makhadzhirs’ Embankment - this is the route the students took from Arasadzykh School No. 2 named after S.E. Kapba.
“We decided to launch the “Aimadara” project in 2024 to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Dmitry Gulia. In addition to visiting the writer’s house-museum, an exciting route to other sights was offered to the children,” said Kherson Simonia, a specialist in the department for working with local representative offices of the WAC.
The excursion began with a visit to the Abkhazian State Museum. The children were taken through all the halls and told about the history of Abkhazia from ancient times to the present day. The schoolchildren enthusiastically looked at the objects of everyday life and culture of the Abkhazians, and they were also interested in the exhibits in the natural history department. At the end of the excursion, the children were shown an ancient burial structure - a dolmen, located in the courtyard of the museum. Then the children went to the Yuri Voronov memorial, where they heard an interesting story about the life and work of the scholar.
The second point of the route was the house-museum of the founder of Abkhazian literature Dmitry Gulia. In addition to the main tour of the halls, young visitors were shown a film about the writer and played an audio recording of his voice, which is carefully preserved in the museum.
“As you know, 2024 has been declared the year of Dmitry Gulia. In this regard, we see that the number of visitors is increasing. It’s gratifying that not only townspeople come, but also villagers, as, for example, today. Dmitry Gulia had a great love for the Abkhazian village, its culture and identity,” said museum director Svetlana Korsaya.
According to her, schoolchildren from the village of Arasadzykh distinguished themselves by their high level of knowledge of the poet’s work; one after another they read his poems by heart.
Then a group of excursionists, accompanied by the Congress staff, headed to the Sukhum Monkey Nursery. Another short excursion!
The visit to the nursery turned out to be perhaps the children’s most vivid impression of the day. Not without fear, of course, but everyone tried to feed the monkeys and watch them.
“The trip turned out to be very exciting. We learned so many new things! The most emotional thing was visiting the monkey nursery, because many of us had never been here before,” said student Miranda Amichba.
The organizers are going to continue the “Aimadara” project and expand its geography.
“We plan to continue organizing trips aimed at children’s educational leisure. And as a continuation of our excursion today, we purchased tickets for the children to the Abkhazian State Drama Theater for the “He and She” play. The performance is based on the work of D. Gulia “Correspondence between a boy and a girl,” noted Kherson Simonia.
The busy day ended with a walk along the sunny Makhadzhirs’ Embankment. The Congress also organized lunch for schoolchildren.
The “Aimadara” project is aimed at popularizing cultural and historical sights among young people. The organizers plan to continue to conduct educational excursions for children from the villages of the republic.
