The "Abaza" quiz, dedicated to the history and culture of Abkhazia, was prepared and conducted by employees of the WAC department for youth development and physical culture together with members of the "Dune" intellectual and creative club.

The participants were asked questions about the history of Abkhazia, traditional dances and songs, national cuisine, folk crafts and architecture. The participants faced questions, answering which they needed to know about Tevfik Esench, about Keriman Ebzhnow, legends about the Narts, about the work of the artist Alexander Chachba-Shervashidze, about the history of the Congress and  many other areas.

According to the authors, they have developed a new format of the intellectual game with six thematic rounds.

"WAC in 2021 held the intellectual game "Иарбан? Избан? Ианба?" ("What? Where? When?" - ed.). The project became great success in television format. We decided to play a similar game in real time, without the TV format. We came to the conclusion that the quiz is a worthy alternative. This game is different from "Иарбан? Избан? Ианба?" because it is not only intellectual, but also entertaining. The author of the texts Gudisa Mamatsev and the editor Elvira Torosyan helped us in the implementation of the new project format," said Valery Berzenia, head of the WAC department for youth development and physical culture.

According to him, many of the presented teams took part in intellectual competitions for the first time.

"It is especially pleasant that the game will be remembered as a quiz about the history and culture of Abkhazia. The teams not only spent an intellectual evening in an informal setting, but also expanded their knowledge of the national culture. The quiz is aimed precisely at such popularization of the history of the people of Abaza. Thank you all for your input and knowledge. We are also grateful to the management of the "Apra" restaurant for their assistance in organizing the event," he added.

The author of the questions, Gudisa Mamatsev, noted that when compiling the program, special attention was paid to the diversity of topics.

"We included in the program not only test questions, but also excerpts from Abkhazian films and songs, as well as questions with props, adding dynamics to the game," he explained.

Representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia for Youth Affairs and Sports, the public organization "Abkhaz-Desk", as well as those wishing to test their knowledge of the history and culture of the Abaza people took part in the intellectual competition.

The teams that took second and third places received certificates for archery in a "Shooting Stars" shooting club. The first place team was awarded handmade hoods.

The winner was the "Abkhaz-Desk" team: Betul Marshan, Angie Pataraya, Omar Kharchilava, Rada Kharchilava, Mramza Lakashia, Anzhelika Vartikyan.

A member of the winning team, Mramza Lakashiya, shared her impressions of the game and thanked the WAC and the "Dune" intellectual and creative club for organizing the event.

"I think such games unite our youth. The quiz is aimed at getting to know your country, its traditions and customs. Despite the fact that these were contests, there was no spirit of competition. All participants had a fun time, discovered a lot of new things in the Abkhazian culture. In such an informal atmosphere, it is possible to unite representatives of different spheres of our society and popularize the study of our culture," Mramza Lakashia, a member of the winning team, shared her impressions.

The "Abaza" quiz project is an intellectual and entertaining game aimed at including participants in the historical and cultural life of Abkhazia. The purpose of the project is to popularize knowledge about the Abkhaz-Abaza national culture, to help people learn more about the Abaza people.
