The vocal and instrumental ensemble "Apsny-67" was created in Sukhum in 1967 as an amateur band at the Palace of Culture of Trade Union Workers. The Director of the Palace of Culture Shamil Vardaniia took the ensemble on the care, providing it with performances not only at Abkhazian venues, but also throughout the USSR.
The ensemble's repertoire includes works by Abkhazian poets and composers. In 1968, "Apsny-67" went on tour to the GDR (German Democratic Republic - editor's note). The ensemble performed in 18 cities of the republic, and also gave a concert in honor of Karl Marx's birthday in the city of Karl-Marx-Stadt.
The years passed, the ensemble's composition changed, but only its popularity remained unchanged. The phenomenon of the popularity of VIA "Apsny 67" is that their music stays simple, accessible, professional and sincere. Today, VIA "Apsny 67" performs with the following musicians - Nodar Sagariia, Rafael Gaguliia, Gennady Bebiia, Arkady Kriia and Lyudmila Gumba. The ensemble's repertoire includes more than 100 songs. Thirty of them were included in the first album of the ensemble "Golden Collection. Apsny-67", released in 2007. The group still exists in Abkhazia.
