Festivities continued the Fifth Sports and Cultural Festival "Abaza", in which hundreds of representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza ethnic group took part, said Rasul Chukov, Deputy Head of the separate unit of "Alashara" in Cherkessk.

He noted that for representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza ethnic group this is a big holiday.

"We are responsible for organizing a cultural and sports festival, because we know that people are waiting for it with great impatience. Such holidays are important for the popularization of our culture, our traditions and customs," Chukov added.

As part of the cultural and sports festival, all guests and participants had the opportunity to join the World Abaza Congress. To do this, one needs to fill out a special form, explained Kan Tania, Assistant to the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the WAC. He added that membership in the Congress will allow people to be part of one big family whose main goal is to preserve the identity and culture of the Abaza people.

For all guests and participants of the festival, a video-link was organized. Thousands of people from Sukhum, Cherkessk, Eskeshchekhir and Amman were able to watch the festive events online.
President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba addressed the guests and participants with a solemn speech during the teleconference from Sukhum.

"Due to Abkhazia's geopolitical situation, there were many states, powers and empires, whose aggressive goals were directed towards the Abkhazian coast, but the ancestors of the Abkhazians, their leaders, knew how to preserve their unified people and give worthy repulse to any aggressor," said the head of the Republic of Abkhazia.

He also noted that in the history of Abkhazia the names of the heroes who protected the power and independence of the Republic with their political wisdom and diplomacy do not fade, however, "when there was no other way out, they called for their troops who were able to resist any foreign legions."

The modern state flag of the Republic of Abkhazia was approved by the session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia on July 23, 1992 in the town of Akua (Sukhum) after the decision to terminate the Constitution of the Abkhaz ASSR of 1978 and the restoration of the SSR Constitution of Abkhazia of 1925. Since 2005, the Day of the National Flag of the Republic of Abkhazia has officially been celebrated as a holiday on July 23.
