A modern outdoor sports ground - a workout was equipped n the village of Lykhny, Gudauta district, on the initiative of the local branch of the WAC.

A modern sports equipment was installed in the courtyard of the Platon Shakryl Secondary School in the village of Lykhny, Gudauta district, on the initiative of members of the local branch (LB) of the WAC.
The idea of the WAC to install a workout was also supported by the villagers. According to the head of the LB, Vadim Lakoya, part of the cost of the equipment was the funds allocated by the Congress, and the remaining amount was voluntary donations from the residents of Lykhny.
All the horizontal bars for the workout were made in a local forge. The owner of the forging shop, Zurab Khagba, said that he was provided with drawings and the necessary information, and he got down to business.
"With my son Alias, who works with me in the workshop, we did the welding and painted the metal structures ourselves. About 100 meters of material (metal pipes - ed.) were used up," he specified.
The head of the Gudauta branch of the WAC, Amra Lakoya, noted the high quality of the blacksmith's work and recalled that it’s not the first time that the Congress addresses Zurab Khagba. For example, the litter bins made by him and installed by the WAC several years ago are standing like new in Gudauta."
"If we had ordered a ready-made workout design, plus delivery, everything would have be much more expensive. It remains to be seen what quality the metal would have been. The purchased stuff is breaking and collapsing, and here we see how they work in the local forge," she explained.
It was at the suggestion of Amra Lakoya that workouts for adults were previously organized at the expense of the townspeople in three densely populated areas of Gudauta. Colleagues from Lykhny continued the successful project.
Nodar Khagba, a teacher of elementary military training at the Lykhny school, noted that the sports ground is also well suited for classes in his subject.
"Strength exercises, complex military competitions, hurdles, and so on, about 12 approaches," the teacher listed and emphasized that children must develop physically. "Systematic exercise helps to strengthen a healthy mind in the body. It’s good when there are organizations like the WAC help with this."
The street workout installation is the third project implemented by the local branch of the WAC in the village of Lykhny. Earlier, members of the Lykhny Municipality put in order the sculptural ensemble dedicated to those who died in the Great Patriotic War: they cleaned and painted the monument, cleared the surrounding area from weeds, and re-applied the faded names of the heroes to the memorial. They also lobbied for the application of road markings on a country road with poor lighting, and the work was carried out by Abkhazavtodor specialists.
The main feature of the work of 42 local branches of the World Abaza Congress in Abkhazia is to interest the residents of the settlements themselves and encourage them to take steps to improve their living conditions, explains Geta Ardzinba, head of the Women's Councils of the WAC. According to her, each branch has its own working features, some need more support from the Congress, some less. The local branch of the village of Lykhny is distinguished by participation, organization and independence.
"An important feature of Lykhny Municipality is organization! The very moment we jointly develop the idea of the project, the guys immediately get to work. They develop a clear implementation plan, distribute areas of responsibility between team members, and determine the amount required to finance the project. This approach to work is dictated by patriotism, love for the place where they live - their legendary village. This message perfectly captures the essence that Congress would like to translate into the work of each local branch. It is joyful when a member of the Local branch burns with deeds and is ready to sacrifice his own strength, financial means, when he understands that he is doing an important public cause. It is important for us to find just such people on the ground," summed up Geta Ardzinba.
She expressed her gratitude "for the spirit that reigns in the team" personally to the head of the LB Vadim Lakoya and the members of the branch Nikita Lakoba and Aynar Vartagava, as well as the high school students of the Lykhny school who participated in the installation of the workout - Anuar Gublia, Inal Gerzmava, Levan Lakoba.
Workouts are a subculture of outdoor sports grounds that originated in the United States in 2008, which has become popular in the world. It is gaining momentum in Abkhazia as well.
