A documentary about the Abaza people of Staropol was presented on a local channel at the end of January. The film was shown in four parts from January 28 to 31.

According to one of the initiators of the film making, the head of the "Abaza" public organization and a member of the Supreme Council of the WAC Armida Chagova, the film is dedicated to the life of Abaza from Stavropol, Kislovodsk, Nevinnomyssk, Kochubeevsky and Predgorny districts of the Stavropol Region. More than 4,000 Abaza live in these areas today.

After the premiere, the documentary was posted online.

"The film exceeded all our expectations. We thought that it could only be interesting to our fellow countrymen, but it turned out to be wrong. The geography was very extensive. Judging by the reviews, it is watched in Moscow, St. Petersburg, in Europe, in Asia, in Abkhazia. By the way, now we are working on the Abaza version of the film (in the Abaza language - ed.), especially for our brothers living abroad," Chagova said.

She noted that an extensive work has been done during the filming, a lot of interesting material was shot, which "will definitely be used in the future."

"We have something to tell about our youth, about the children we are trying to bring up in the traditions of our people," explained Armida Chagova.

The importance of the release of the film about the Abaza of Stavropol was highly appreciated by the Chairman of the SC of the WAC Mussa Ekzekov.

"Under the excellent leadership of a member of the Supreme Council of the World Abaza Congress, Chairman of the "Abaza" national-cultural autonomy Armida Chagova, the Abaza of Stavropol have done a great and high-quality work in order to tell and show the beauty of the traditions, language and culture of the Abaza people not only to the residents of Russia, but also to numerous representatives of the Abkhaz-Abaza Diaspora around the world. Our common task is to pass on the most valuable knowledge gained from our ancestors to the new generation through such interesting projects," he said.

 After the release of the film, its creators received numerous feedbacks, which are still being sent.

 "The documentary is original, filled with warmth, love and care. We are very happy for our people.  Success to them, and may only blessing and prosperity await them in the future," said the viewer Irina Klycheva.

The chief editor of the Abaza newspaper "Abazashta" Fardaus Kulova noted that she watched the film "with great pleasure and pride due to her belonging to the Abaza people."  In her opinion, the film vividly reflected the rich social and cultural life of the Abaza, representing the people in the Stavropol Region. She added that she is proud of every compatriot.

"Starting with positive and promising young people, and ending with eminent and well-known elders in different spheres, everyone proudly carries the title of Abaza. I was once again convinced that the strength and significance of the people is not in their numbers, but in smart, wonderful people who glorified them in science, education, culture, and sports. It's nice that the film contains stories about the Abaza, who made an invaluable contribution to the unity of the people, and who, unfortunately, are no longer with us. Thanks to the film, the memory of them will be long and kind," she said.

The idea of ​​creating the film "Abaza of Stavropol" belongs to the regional public organization of the national-cultural autonomy of the Abaza of the Stavropol Region "Abaza". The film was made with the financial support of the Committee for Nationalities and Cossacks of the Stavropol Region.

The documentary film is dedicated to the life of Abaza from Stavropol, Kislovodsk, Nevinnomyssk, Kochubeevsky and Predgorny districts of the Stavropol Region. It tells about how they live today, what the Abaza are doing, whether they manage to preserve their customs and traditions, whether they observe rituals, how they maintain their native language, what contribution they make to the development of their region.
