The conference's opening ceremony and plenary session took place in the Cabinet of Ministers' assembly hall. The event was attended by Prime Minister Vladimir Delba, Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits, Deputy Prime Ministers Dzhansukh Nanba and Maya Tsybulevskaya, Minister of Education Khana Gunba, and South Ossetia's Ambassador to Abkhazia, Astamur Katsia. A delegation from Karachay-Cherkessia also took part in the two-day forum: Arsen Kankoshev, Bilyal Khasarokov, Aishat Dzyba (all Doctors of Philology), and Zaur Meremkulov, head of the Abaza Language Development Department at the ANO "Alashara".

The forum was opened by Arda Ashuba, Director of the D.I. Gulia Abkhazian Institute for Humanitarian Studies:

"Today would have marked the 100th anniversary of Tamara Platonovna's birth. She was born on September 2, 1926, into a family of renowned educators. Her father, Platon Shakryl, was the author of one of the first Abkhaz primers and an organizer of cultural life in the early 20th century. Her uncle, Konstantin Shakryl, was a Doctor of Philology and one of the authors of the famous 1947 letter against the Georgianization of Abkhazia. Several years later, as a graduate student, Tamara Platonovna, together with her sister, Ekaterina, wrote a letter to Stalin with a firm demand to restore the rights of Abkhazians to education in their native language. She was a great woman, a patriot, a linguist, and a prominent public figure. That is why we dedicated our academic readings to the memory of the Shakryl family – great people who fought for the rights of Abkhazians, the preservation of the Abkhaz language, and our statehood."

President Badra Gunba sent a greeting to the participants of the II International Shakryl Readings. Prime Minister Vladimir Delba read the text of the address:

"Dear participants of the II International Shakryl Readings!Welcome to the forum dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding linguist, public figure, human rights activist, and Hero of Abkhazia Tamara Platonovna Shakryl.

The name of Tamara Shakryl holds a special place in the history of Abkhazian scholarship and public life. Her entire life was associated with Abkhazia, the Abkhaz language, culture, and the protection of national interests. She made a significant contribution to the development of Abkhazian linguistics: her research on morphology and syntax, philosophical problems of linguistics, and numerous scholarly works have become an important part of our heritage.Her civic stance is particularly significant.

Tamara Shakryl consistently and courageously defended the right of the Abkhazian people to preserve their language, culture, and national identity.Today, it is especially important that her scientific ideas continue to be studied and become the basis for new research.

This is one of the main goals of the readings – not only to preserve the memory of this outstanding figure but also to ensure the continuity of scientific tradition.It is gratifying that the forum brought together scholars from Abkhazia and other regions of Russia: St. Petersburg, Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygea, Dagestan, Stavropol Region, and other research centers.

Such representative participation demonstrates the broad interest in the language, history, folklore, ethnology, and literature of the peoples of the Caucasus.

I am confident that the readings will become an important event in the humanities and will contribute to strengthening collaboration between researchers.

I wish all participants fruitful work, meaningful discussions, and new scientific discoveries!

Vladimir Delba also noted that Tamara Platonovna Shakryl's work commands the utmost respect and international recognition, and thanked all the organizers and guests for their participation. The first day of the forum was devoted to presentations about Tamara Shakryl.

On September 3, the forum was divided into sections: "Linguistics," "Literature," and "Folklore, Ethnography, and History."

In the linguistics section, Zaur Meremkulov presented a paper on "The Role of the ANO "Alashara" in Preserving the Abaza Language."

In the "Folklore, Ethnography, and History" section, Elvira Chkok-Eshba, Deputy Director of the D.I. Gulia Abkhazian Institute of Geography (ABIGI), presented a paper on "The Novy Afon Parish School and the System of N.I. Ilminsky." The speaker noted the Shakryl family's significant contribution to the development of Abkhazian statehood.

Arda Ashuba, Director of the D.I. Gulia ABIGI, summarized the conference. He noted the consolidating role of the Shakryl Readings for the linguistic community and announced the forum's key initiative: submitting an appeal to the country's leadership to establish a house-museum and scientific and cultural center for the Shakryl family in the village of Lykhny.

"The Shakryl family represents outstanding individuals who made invaluable contributions as scholars and patriots. Readings dedicated to them have the potential to unite linguists: when linguists gather together, finding solutions to pressing scientific issues becomes significantly easier. While it is certainly impossible to cover the entire spectrum of issues within a single conference, events of this scale play a crucial role in the advancement of science. In conclusion of the forum, I would like to note that we plan to propose the creation of a house-museum in the village of Lykhny, where the Shakryl brothers lived and worked. "We strive to ensure that this memorial site does not remain empty, but becomes a vibrant scientific and cultural center where schoolchildren, students, graduate students, and scientists can come to conduct research, attend lectures, and hold conferences," concluded Ashuba.
