WAC and invited experts conducted final career guidance training sessions. Over the year, more than 100 high school students from six villages in Abkhazia participated in the project.
The World Abaza Congress Department on Education, Social Engagement, and Healthcare summarized the results of its annual career guidance project. The final training sessions were held in the Khypsta and Adzhamchygra secondary schools.
Sukhum State College construction teacher Alisa Bartsits, social engagement specialist Naida Abidova, and WAC OSAZ specialist Naur Khishba participated in the discussions.
The experts discussed career choice strategies with the students, talked about in-demand specialties, and shared their personal experiences with education and employment. The students, in turn, actively asked questions and shared their plans for the future. At the end of the training sessions, children were given flyers with information about colleges in Abkhazia.
WAC OSAZ specialist Naur Khishba summarized the annual results and emphasized the importance of the training sessions.
"In 2025, we conducted six field trips to schools in the villages of Khypsta, Adzyubzha, Uarcha, Adzhamchygra, Aatsy, and Primorskoye. A total of 106 students attended the training sessions. The "Career Guidance" project was created to address a specific problem: many high school students are insufficiently informed about the labor market and rarely discuss their future careers with their parents. We are filling this gap by introducing the students to a wide range of professions in demand in the country and allowing them to interact with practicing experts and students," noted Khishba.
Activist Naida Abidova described the training sessions and the information the specialists shared with the children.
"We socialized with high school students at each school. We asked them about their plans for college, learned about their interests, and tried to guide them in their future career choices. We also talked about the opportunities offered to young people by the Abkhazian Multidisciplinary College and the Sukhum State College," said Abidova.
According to her, professions that require specialized knowledge are of great importance, yet they are rarely considered by schoolchildren.
Career guidance trainings have been implemented by the Congress team since 2022. Since then, the Congress team has visited 24 rural schools and reached over 550 students. The project helps high school students gain the knowledge and skills to make a conscious career choice and prepares them for an independent career planning.
