Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora assists Abkhazia in confronting the coronavirus pandemic.
The Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora (MAD) (Regional Public Organization “Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora” - ed.) from the first days of action in Abkhazia to prevent an outbreak of coronavirus infection COVID-19 has sent its forces to help the homeland. The head of the MAD told the WAC web information portal about the work done by the Diaspora to assist Abkhazia and the next stage of this work.
“In Moscow, the MAD board immediately after the election of the President of Abkhazia decided to create an operational headquarters to counter the spread of coronavirus infection in Abkhazia. The main task of the headquarters is to organize the collection of money and carry out the purchase of the necessary protective equipment for the Ministry of Health and the population of Abkhazia,” said Agrba.
He noted that according to the decision of the board, Bogdan Shakaya was appointed the head of the headquarters, the coordination of the MAD in Abkhazia was carried out by Inna Barchan.
“Then we learned that in parallel with this, the movement “We are Together” was born in Abkhazia (Abkhaz businessmen in March of this year quickly created a fund to help fight against coronavirus infection - ed.). Almost immediately, we coordinated actions with the movement “We are together.” In our work, we rely on the Operational Headquarters, created in Abkhazia under the Ministry of Health, so that the work is coordinated, there is no duplication of actions,” said Agrba.
To date, about 50 million rubles have been raised by the forces of the “We are Together” movement and the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora. 21 artificial ventilation apparatus, 5,000 test systems, about 10,000 masks, more than 500 protective overalls for medical workers, pulse oximeters, non-contact thermometers and many other means of protection and treatment are already purchased (the full list can be found on the MAD website - ed.).
The help of the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora of Abkhazia did not end there. In particular, a 20-ton food cargo is being formed from the producer and distributor of grocery products “Mistral Trading”, which is planned to be sent to Abkhazia before April 10.
The head of the MAD noted that under quarantine conditions around the world there are certain difficulties with the delivery of purchased goods to Abkhazia, but “these issues are being resolved.”
Beslan Agrba expressed “deep and sincere gratitude to all who donated and assisted, as well as to friends and colleagues from the MAD board for their responsiveness and tireless work.”
