Scientific research by the Director of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Golovnev is devoted to the study of ethnicity using the example of the Abaza experience.

Today, the whole world is at a crossroads of choosing values, among which ethnicity is not always in high esteem, although in fact it is precisely in the heart of all global contacts and conflicts. In the field of modern ethnography, those Abaza are prominent, whose heritage is the abazara - a kind of code, an example of compliance with the features and values ​​of their people. 

The article by the Director of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Golovnev "Abaza: Renewal of Ethnicity or a Workshop of New Ethnography" is a profound study of ethnicity (using the example of the Abaza experience) and the factors influencing its preservation and recreation.

The narrative is based on the statements of the Abaza in dialogues with each other and with the author of the article, written based on the materials of field research in the Caucasus.
The article was prepared as part of the work on the "Indigenous Peoples: Renewal of Ethnicity" project under the Program of Scientific Research related to the study of the ethnocultural diversity of Russian society and aimed at strengthening all-Russian Identity.
