The Abkhaz language course has begun for students of the Gal Secondary School. This event was preceded by a two-day training on the basics of social design.
Training on the basics of social design is a joint project of the WAC and the State Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports. The project has been held in the towns and villages of Abkhazia for high school students since 2024, and is aimed at presenting a number of projects to improve the quality of teamwork, the ability to identify pressing problems in society and find ways to solve them. The course on studying the Abkhaz language was identified by the commission as the most in-demand course in this school.
The project curator on the basics of social design, a specialist in the WAC department for work with youth and physical education, Esma Kvitsiniia, shared the first results.
"Within the framework of the project on the basics of social design, 6 trainings were held in different schools in Abkhazia. The project moderators - specialists and trainers in the field of social design Lana Chkadua and Mate Tskvitariia familiarized the participants with the basics of design, explained why and for what purpose it is important to obtain this knowledge. The result of the training in the Gal school was the created project on studying the Abkhaz language. We made every effort to ensure that schoolchildren’s idea was realized. The participants of last year's training began courses on studying the Abkhaz language," she said.
The Abkhaz language course will last 6 months. The teacher is the head specialist of the Department of registration of compatriots of the Repatriation Committee of the Republic of Abkhazia Sariia Khashig. The first trial lesson lasted 45 minutes in an interactive format. As part of the meeting with the teacher, the students shared information about themselves, told about their hobbies and interests, shared their existing basic knowledge in the Abkhaz language.
Sariia Khashig shared her impressions of the schoolchildren and her emotions after the first introductory lesson.
"The World Abaza Congress launched courses on the Abkhaz language. I was invited to work in the project as a teacher. I admit, for me it is very exciting. After all, the students themselves took the initiative to study. I want to conduct the entire course so that they develop a desire to study the Abkhaz language, to get involved in the Abkhazian culture," said Khashig.
