Sukhum, Republic of Abkhazia

Schoolchildren from Abkhazia visited Artek.

Who has not dreamed of visiting Artek? For almost a century, the international children's center has been the dream of millions of schoolchildren, because it is a unique place for recreation, development and friendship of children from all over the world. The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Abkhazia provides an opportunity for children from our republic to become part of a big friendly team of Artek.

For the first time this year, within the framework of diplomatic cooperation and directly with the participation of the Head of the Chairman of the Supreme Council Office of the World Abaza Congress Kan Tania, the WAC took an active part in collecting, sending and travelled with schoolchildren from Abkhazia. In the period from July 16 to August 4, more than 30 children from different cities and regions of the republic aged 14 to 17 visited Artek. Fifteen of them were overseen by the Congress.

Children from Abkhazia ended up in the eighth shift of the camp, the varied program of which included recreational, sports and educational activities. After twenty-one days spent in the Crimea, the group returned home. On August 9, a meeting of Artek residents was organized in the assembly hall of the House of Moscow in Sukhum. Participants actively shared their impressions, obtained knowledge, communicated with the organizers of the trip and made plans for the future.

“I am so happy with the trip. I am very glad that I have made many friends from different countries. I am delighted with hiking, tours and other joint activities. I am confident that  knowledge and skills gained will definitely be useful to me in the future,” said Maria Adleyba, one of the project participants.

“Guys from different parts of the world came to Artek, and it was interesting for us to learn about the traditions of different peoples. We, in turn, staged Abkhazian dances and showed our national games, and at the festival of national cultures we told about the history, culture and beauties of our country,” Veronika Khagba shared her impressions.

In 2025, Artek will turn 100 years old, and it plans to meet its two millionth participant. Maybe it will be you!
