CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE WAC MUSSA EKZEKOV IN HONOR OF THE 15th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RECOGNITION OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA
Exactly 15 years ago Abkhazia gained international recognition
On August 26, 2008, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree recognizing the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Since then, the republics have got the right to defend their rights as sovereign states in the system of international relations, while preserving the identity and culture of the people.
The recognition by the great neighbor helped to show the world the seriousness of the intentions of the Abkhazian people, and also set an example for other countries. Following Russia, the sovereignty of the republic was recognized by Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, Nauru and a number of other UN member states.
All these 15 years, the alliance of Russia and Abkhazia has served for the benefit of both countries, helping mutual cultural exchange. Thanks to this interaction, the Abkhaz-Abaza people, scattered throughout the world, headed for unity.
There is still a lot of work ahead to preserve the traditions and language of our original people, but how many wonderful things have already been done over the years! Collecting our values bit by bit, we recreate history, preserve the past and move together into the future. I hope that these good relations will always develop towards each other with open arms.
Happy recognition of sovereignty and independence, beloved Apsny!
Peace and prosperity!
