Representatives of the World Abaza Congress honored the memory of the defenders of besieged Leningrad at the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery.

Representatives of the World Abaza Congress honored the memory of the defenders of besieged Leningrad at the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery. Participants in the ceremony laid wreaths at the Motherland monument, as well as at the memorials of the natives of Karachay-Cherkessia and Abkhazia who fell during the Great Patriotic War.

Piskarevskoye Cemetery is the world's largest cemetery for victims of the World War II. In 1941-1944 it became the site of mass graves of those killed in the Great Patriotic War. The memorial plaque to the defenders of besieged Leningrad, natives of Abkhazia, was unveiled in May 2004, and for natives of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic - in 2018.
