The Abkhazian-Russian Youth Forum has kicked off at the Abkhazian State University (ASU), with the Sukhum International Information Technology Forum (SIITF) serving as its centerpiece. The SIITF was organized by the State Committee for Youth and Sports and the Esports Association of the Republic of Abkhazia, with support from the World Abaza Congress.
The first international IT forum has begun at the Abkhazian State University. The event brought together representatives from the IT industry, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and experts not only from Abkhazia but also from various regions of Russia.
"We, as representatives of the Esports Association, decided to create a platform for all the young people in our country involved in the IT sector, as well as for those simply interested in esports. Although Abkhazia is small and the existing companies are well-known, there are products that have yet to reach the market. The State Committee supported our idea, for which we are very grateful. We would also like to express our thanks to the companies and organizations that have supported us," noted Valery Berzeniia, head of the Esports Association of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Forum participants had the opportunity to explore developments from Abkhazian tech companies, learn about modern digital solutions, and discuss the future prospects of the industry.
Temur Rekvava, head of the World Abaza Congress, highlighted the importance of supporting youth initiatives and underscored the success of the partnership with the Esports Association.
"We are delighted to be part of this major event. As you know, the World Abaza Congress carries out a wide range of projects in the fields of education, culture, and sports. For the past year, we have been actively collaborating with the Esports Association of the Republic of Abkhazia, supporting the development of this area in the country. Our young people are incredibly talented; they regularly organize high-level competitions and events. Today, we see the logical result of their hard work. A forum of this scale is being held in Abkhazia for the first time, and we sincerely hope it will become a wonderful annual tradition," noted Rekvava.
Projects were presented by companies including Aquafon, A-Mobile, Sistema, StemLab, TicketMe, and others. Each booth served as a clear example of how technology makes our lives more convenient and modern.
"By participating in this forum, we are collectively demonstrating that it is not just the tourism industry that is developing in our country, but the IT sector as well. There are seven booths here today, three of which belong to A-Mobile. We are showcasing our fixed-line internet service, A-home, as well as our 'smart home' and 'digital wallet' projects. Furthermore, we are presenting our partners: the IT school StemLab, and the 'Ticket.Me' project, which we are promoting together with our partner Inar Sadzba," explained Arsou Khashba, Deputy CEO of A-Mobile.
Guests eagerly visited the company booths to get a closer look at these innovative developments.
"StemLab is showcasing its courses, projects, and achievements here—for instance, 3D printing, 3D modeling, and the integration of artificial intelligence into 3D models. We also have our drones, simulators, and the equipment our students use to master the art of operating such technology," said David Buliia, a representative of StemLab.
The grand opening of the Abkhazian-Russian Youth Forum took place in the afternoon. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, as well as representatives from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Abkhazia. In his official address, the head of state emphasized the significance of this kind of events.
"Distinguished participants of the Abkhazian-Russian Youth Forum, dear guests, dear friends! I extend a sincere welcome to you all here on Abkhazian soil! It is a great honor for us to host such a prominent youth forum, which brings together young leaders from Abkhazia and Russia. Meetings like this are of particular importance. They allow young people to get to know each other better, exchange experiences, share ideas, and discover common interests. Most importantly, they strengthen mutual trust and lay foundation for further development of relations between the peoples of our two countries," the head of state declared.
A gala concert was held to mark the opening of the forum. Over the course of three days, the venue will host thematic sessions, round-table discussions, master classes, and excursions.
