A ship with sets of winter clothes and warm blankets arrived in the port of Sukhum in the continuation of the charity event of the WAC “Soul Warmth” on Monday morning, February 4. The humanitarian aid will be distributed among poor families of Abkhazia.

The Executive Secretary of the World Abaza Congress, Inar Gitsba, said that during the second stage of the campaign 1,120 sets of winter jackets and sweaters, 1008 pairs of tights and socks, as well as 200 winter blankets arrived in Abkhazia.

“Today we received another batch of humanitarian aid, which until the end of this month will be sorted and distributed in accordance with previously prepared lists of families in need of assistance,” said the Executive Secretary.

As part of the WAC campaign, 30 pairs of winter shoes were also transferred to the wards of the children's rehabilitation center in Sukhum.

The head of the Youth Council of the WAC Levan Torchua noted the importance of such actions.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of needy children in Abkhazia who are deprived of elementary goods, such as warm clothes and shoes, in the absence of which they cannot go to school during the winter, especially in rural areas. It is a great joy for us to see gratitude in the eyes of children and their parents,” Levan Torcua shared his impressions.

Social work specialist of the children's rehabilitation center, Irma Abukhba noted that this is not the first aid from Congress.

“For children, this is a great gift. Parents are very grateful for the fact that they are remembered and assisted, because many of them are go through hard times,” said Abukhba.

The first stage of the charity event of the WAC “Soul Warmth” was launched by distributing humanitarian aid to several dozens of project beneficiaries on the eve of the New Year. The new footwear was transferred to needy families from the lists compiled by the organizers of the action - the WAC, the ANO “Alashara” and the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers of Turkey in cooperation with the Ministry for the Repatriation of the Republic of Abkhazia, the district departments of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of Abkhazia, the Public Association "Kiaraz" and the Red Cross.
