At the same time, the Minister expressed the opinion that if to keep the situation under control and strictly observe the regime of self-isolation until the end of spring, then “serious problems can be avoided”.
“So far, a favorable situation is developing for Abkhazia,” added Tamaz Tsakhnakia.
He recalled that a number of restrictive measures were still in force in the Republic.
“I focus on self-isolation. The fact that we have three patients today, and one of them recovered and was discharged home, gives no reason to relax. We very closely monitor the epidemiological situation in the world and neighboring states. Unfortunately, the situation there is not the easiest,” said Tsakhnakia.
Restrictive measures
The state of emergency introduced in Abkhazia at the end of March lasted until April 20, after which it was not extended by decision of the authorities. At the same time, the authorities urge the country's population to continue to observe measures of self-isolation.
It was also decided to abolish the curfew in the Gagra and Gal districts. In all towns of Abkhazia, the central markets have resumed their work, they will be open three days a week. Schools, kindergartens and the university remain closed. Public transport does not work.
Russian assistance
On April 18, units of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the Russian Black Sea Fleet arrived in Abkhazia to assist in the fight against the spread of coronavirus. For this occasion, Acting President of Abkhazia Valery Bganba met with representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Abkhazia and the military base of the Russian Defense Ministry, located in Gudauta.
“I am sure you know that the situation in Abkhazia with coronavirus is, in principle, under control. We weakened our actions a little, curfew was canceled in the Gal and Gagra districts. All those in contact with the sick were identified and isolated. In general, the situation is more or less stable. The work of the market was partially resumed with a certain periodicity,” the Acting President said at the meeting.
He also noted that, given the resumption of the work of some enterprises and food markets, the assistance of the Russian side in the implementation of disinfection measures was necessary.

The Operational Headquarters for protecting the population from coronavirus infection reported that a previously ill patient born in 1925 is currently in the Gudauta hospital, her condition is regarded as serious, unstable.
Two others recovered. One patient remains in the hospital under the supervision of doctors, the other one is at home.
Since the introduction of the emergency regime in the territory of Abkhazia, more than 200 people have passed the test for the detection of coronavirus infection.
