The World Abaza Congress team took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sukhum.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The sons and daughters of Abkhazia made their contribution to the fight against fascism. 55.5 thousand people from Abkhazia were called up to the ranks of the Soviet Army and Navy according to archival materials during the Great Patriotic War. 17.5 thousand people did not return from the war. Twenty-three natives of the republic were awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union, three were awarded the Order of Glory of three degrees
